Rotorua city walkways span 26km split into 8 shorter sections including the lakefront promenade, geothermal areas, native wildlife, and local historical and cultural sites: Sulphur point - Government gardens - meander the delightful gardens around the Rotorua Museum. See the Rachel Pool which fed mineral waters to the original Bath House. Continue on to Kuirau park for more thermal activity & the Aquatic Centre

Rotorua Lakes 

There are many lovely lakes in the Rotorua District ... Rotorua, Rotoiti, Rotoma, Rotomahana, Rerewhakaitu, Okataina, Okareka – beautiful lake edge walkway, Blue Lake(Tikitapu), Green Lake(Rotokahi) - see the amazing beauty and contrast between the Blue and Green Lakes. The blue lake is popular for summer water sports as is Lake Tarawera. The volcano Tarawera lies dormant, on the far shores of this beautiful Lake, creating a powerful atmosphere. A water taxi takes visitors for a swim at hot water beach on the opposite side of the lake. There are a number of interesting walks around many of these lakes. 

Rainbow Mountain 

Rainbow Mountain Scenic Reserve is located 26 km south of Rotorua on State Highway 5. Follow the signs from the carpark on an easy walking track (20min return) for views over two crater lakes, set against a backdrop of steaming brown, orange and red cliffs.
